Hunting For Treasure

After finishing that Memory quilt, I decided to play hooky tonight and go on a cache run with my Sis!

Don't worry, though, I'm hoping to have a few more quilty things to show you this weekend!

Happy Friday!

Another Memory Quilt Finished

My friend, Dave, asked for a second memory quilt, using his late Mother-in-laws clothing. I dropped it off today!

He loved! And I had a hard time giving it up because it's so soft & cuddly!

He told me that he had taken the last one to show his sister-in-law (also a quilter), and she gave it very high praise! I'm so happy!

Can I just go out and play?

The dashboard thermometer states it's 77 degrees outside. There is a pleasant breeze carrying the scent of lilac trees. Along the other path is a trail of white blossoms.

Why, oh why, must I go inside?

Cache In, Trash Out (CITO) on Earth Day

Looking back, I realize I forgot to share some pictures from Earth Day 2013.  Me and my fellow geocachers from around the world participated in trash clean-up events, giving back to the community.
Over 640 CITO events were hosted in more than 12 countries. Over the long Cache In Trash Out (CITO) weekend on April 20, 21 and 22, more than 12,000 geocachers met friends, picked up garbage and cleaned up the environment.

The contribution can be measured one old candy wrapper or one discarded bike tire at a time. All geocachers combined to pack dumpsters full of waste that had been polluting the environment. If each geocacher picked up just ten pounds of garbage, we all helped clean up at least 50 tons of trash around the world. That’s a staggering 100,000 pounds (45359.2 kg). (Groundspeak)
Me and my buds returned to Belle Isle (that beautiful gem in the middle of the Detroit River) and cleaned the interior roads.

And, as always, we ended with food!

I'm very proud of the big hearts of my fellow Michiganders!

Flat Iron Steak with Bourbon Mustard Sauce

So, summer has finally hit here in Michigan, and the weather is gorgeous!  Came home today to find my boyfriend had been to the grocery store and had started the grill - yummy!  This was the second time we made this Flat-iron Steak (recipe by Charbroil).  We've had it with steamed broccoli, grilled brussel sprouts, and rosemary potatoes.

The part that seems to confuse everyone is the Bourbon.  I'm a tea-totaller, but I will eat food prepared with alcohol.  As you can see, we splurged and bought the big bottle!  We got the 3-incher!

You can get the recipe here or visit the Charbroil site.

Happy Spring!

Tool Tip: Velcro & Power Cords

Here's a cool tip that will work at home (sewing machine cords, irons, CD players) or at work (phone chargers).  I did this at work and was surprised how many compliments I received.

This is my iPhone charger at work.  I like to keep it at the ready because I need to charge my iPhone in the afternoons.  However, the outlets are under my desk so the cord kept slipping down and pooling on the floor.

So I added adhesive-backed velcro to the desk's edge. I cut off a section, peeled off the backing on one side, adhered it to the edge, and then clamped my cord in between.  It's discreet and allows me to extract as much cord as I need or completely remove the cord if I need to take it with me.

I have this at home, too.  I have a portable CD player that I like to take from my quilt room and use outside when we grill.  When I return it to it's normal space, I just plug the power cord back in.

Happy Wednesday!
